On Sunday, December 6th, 2020, Ralph White Fackrell, a loyal father, husband and grandfather, passed away at the age of 81.  Ralph was born October 23rd, 1939 in Homedale, Idaho to David and Elsie Fackrell.

He started his college education to become a vet after high school and soon after was drafted into the military for the Vietnam War. Ralph served two years to the military then came home and met Linda, whom he was married to for many years and had three children with, Scott, Tom, and Kelli.

Ralph moved his family to California in 1981 and began their life there. While in California, he had an auto body/mechanic shop. This is where he met his current wife Debbie. Her roommate had been working for Ralph and she and Ralph had gotten along so well that when he decided it was time to take his family back home to Idaho, she helped move him there and decided to stay herself.

Several years and one divorce later, Ralph married his true love, Debbie. They celebrated for a whole month, hunting in Stanley, Idaho. They’ve been married 28 years now and everyday just as in love as the first.

Ralph was very passionate about restoring classic vehicles. He’d see an old hunk of junk and turn it into gold. The was no stopping his ambition. He loved his cars and he loved his animals. He was a cowboy as much as he was a body man. He loved working with his horses and teaching his children and grand children how to ride. Amongst his many hobbies and talents, Ralph was most passionate about his family. He had so much love to give and was always the first to lend a helping hand, and his family was the receiver of most of this love. Through every mistake, every tear, every heartbreak he never let you down. He made sure good times were great, and he made sure bad times weren’t so bad. Not to mention the heart he had for strangers, too. So many times, Ralph would stop on the side of the road for a cold hitchhiker, take him home and give him a hot meal and some place comfortable to sleep. He never stopped giving.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Debbie, brother and sister, Earl and Millie, three children, many grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bruce, Bob, and Richard. A funeral service for close family and friends was held Monday, December 21st. Due to Covid restrictions, it was not announced for everyone to attend, although he touched many, many lives. Ralph was laid to rest at the Lund, Nevada Cemetery, in the town he loved and called home.

Jerry Larson passed away peacefully in Reno, Nevada on January 24, 2021 with his Granddaughter, Christy, at his side.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Howardean (Merritt) Larson, son Terry Larson, and parents G. Gordon & Helen (Burns) Larson.

He is survived by his children: Randy (Debbie) Larson, Ely, Nv, Penny (Mike) Conner, Tucson, Az, Grand Children Christy (Fritz) Klingler, Reno, Nv, Sherry (Danny) Miller, Elko Nv., Katie (Matt) Adams, Henderson, Nv., and great grandchildren: Tyler & Rhett Klingler, Madalyn & Jimmy Miller, Hunter and Easton Adams.

Jerry was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah on May 26, 1932 during the Great Depression to Gordon and Helen Larson and moved to McGill, at the age of 8, in 1941.
In third grade, he met a girl at the McGill Grade School, Howardean Merritt, that he would marry on December 6, 1952, before he was deployed to Korea. They would spend 67 years together raising three children: Randy, Penny, and Terry.
Jerry grew up in McGill spending time at the McGill Pool, exploring the mountains, hunting and fishing with his friends. In high school, he joined the Nevada Northern Railroad as a track hand. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1950 and went to work for Kennecott in the mill and crusher.

On June 26, 1951, he enlisted in the United State Air Force. He went to basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio Texas. There, he attended Texas College for additional training. Upon completion of boot camp, he was assigned to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah before he deployed to Korea
Jerry was assigned to the 6146Th Air Force Advisory Group under Colonel Barr as office clerk in Taegu, South Korea working with the P-51 Mustangs. He ended his enlistment as a Staff Sergeant at Davis-Monthan AFB in 1953 with the: Commendation Ribbon, Korean Services Medal, ROK Pres Unit Medal, and United Nations Service Medal.

Upon leaving the Air Force, he returned to McGill to go back to work at Kennecott. In 1957, he moved his family to Los Angeles to get his college degree, while working for Arthur Anderson and Company. He graduated in August 1959 with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Woodbury College. After graduation, he returned to McGill and Kennecott where he was promoted to Supervisor of Materials and Supply Accounting.

He and Howardean loved raising their family in McGill. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating at the Ruby’s together. In 1977, he was transferred to Kennecott’s Headquarters in SLC, Utah as materials manager.
In 1980, Kennecott transferred him to Silver City, New Mexico for the Chino Mines modernization project until he retired in 1998, ending a 37 year career.
Jerry was not one to sit still! In 1989, he left Silver City “Ely with a better climate” for Las Vegas to work at Reynolds Electrical Engineering Co.
In 1991, Jerry and Howardean moved to Winnemucca to rejoin the mining community. Jerry worked for Gold Fields at the Chimney Creek Mine until his permanent retirement in 1993, which kept him home to be supervised by “the worst boss he ever had!”

Following retirement, Howardean moved him back to McGill. Living in McGill during the retirement years allowed him to spend time with friends and watch over the granddaughters during summer break. Chasing the granddaughters and local kids around town and lining them all up on the curb gave him the opportunity to supervise once again.

If you knew Jerry, you knew “the door is always open at #9;” there was always a cold beer in the fridge and the stories shared on the patio aren’t suited for print in the local paper.

Jerry’s wishes upon his passing were for everyone not to mourn his death but instead have one hell of a party.

With that in mind, SKOL!!!

Warren attended school in Mt. Pleasant, where he met his future wife, Eva Pedersen. She was the prom queen and he was the prom king – although they didn’t officially have a date until years later.

During High School, WW II broke out and, as soon as he graduated, Warren enlisted with the US Marines and served in the South Pacific in Guam and Japan during and after WW II. After being honorably discharged, he returned home where he attended Snow College and the University of Utah. A natural athlete, he loved all sports and was especially good at basketball and football. While in college, he played football for the University of Utah. In his late 40’s, he was a force to be reckoned with on the Church basketball courts and at almost 60 years old, was still beating the 18yearold boys at tennis.

In 1946, he reconnected with Eva and their love story began. On April 25, 1947 they were married, and later sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George LDS temple. Together, Warren and Eva raised six children, three girls and three boys. His family was his pride and joy.

Warren worked in produce in Sanpete, and later was promoted to produce manager in Ely, Nevada, where he worked for Safeway until his retirement in 1989.

He was an excellent gardener with a beautiful garden and was something of an amateur pomologist. He loved experimenting with his fruit trees, splicing branches together and coming up with new fruits. His passion, however, was fly fishing. He tied his own flies and spent countless hours on the banks of Illipah, hauling in the big ones and teaching others how to tie flies and catch the big ones.

Throughout his life, Warren gave service in many different ways to others in need. Warren was still chopping wood and delivering it to widows, the elderly, and others when he was 80 years old.

Warren was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. He served in many callings throughout his life, including High Councilman and counselor in the Bishopric. He had an unwavering testimony and love for his Savior.

Warren was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister (Pearl) and brother, (Hans), his wife, (Eva Diana), grand-daughter, (Ryan Nicole), grandson, (Shell Huff), great-grandson, (Samuel), and daughter-in-law, (Sherrie Poulsen.)

He is survived by his children, Jerry Ann Downard (Toni), Peter Poulsen, James Poulsen (Bonnie), Jennifer Bowler (Brent), Diane Vaughan (Chuck), and Michael Poulsen (Melinda). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, March 27th, at 1:00pm, at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mary Jean Paris, born February 9th, 1924 in Armendaritz in the Basque Country of France, passed away peacefully with her family on March 10th, 2021 at the age of 97. She was the second oldest of nine children born to Jean and Marie Louise Legarto.

Always a caring and helpful person, Mary Jean left home at the age of 12, working to help generate income for her family. In 1948, she immigrated to the United States and became a proud American Citizen. After arriving in Reno to work in a boarding house, she went to visit her brother, who was herding sheep for Bertrand Paris Sr. in Ely. While there, Bert Sr. asked her to stay and care for his daughter Grace’s, two young children, Jerry and Roy Christiansen. During that time, Mary Jean met and fell in love with her husband of 63 years, Pierre “Pete” Paris Sr. They were married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ely, Nevada on September 9th, 1950.

Mary Jean was a ranch wife, a mother, and a devout Catholic dedicated to the Holy Rosary. She was very active in her children’s school and 4-H activities. Over the years, she took in numerous children of friends and relatives, instilling in them her hard work ethic and giving them the gift of life on the ranch. She and Pete Sr. lived on the ranch until 1998 and then moved to Ely where they ran a small hobby farm. They rebuilt old sheep camps and tended to one of their son’s livestock in the summer months.

After 63 years of marriage and the passing of her husband, Mary Jean moved to Elko to be closer to her family. She spent her remaining years quilting, watching the cattle, and enjoying the scenery of the Ruby Mountains. She will be remembered for her selfless giving, her strong work ethic, and her extreme love and support of family and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, Jean and Marie Louise Legarto; seven of her siblings; husband Pete Sr.; children Mickey and Grace Marie; and granddaughter Sophia.

Survived by sons Pete Jr. (Rama), David (Dena), and Mark (Kim); eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister Helen in France; and numerous nieces and nephews in the US and in the Basque Country.
