Marilyn Chachas Green died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and will long be remembered for gathering them together to celebrate life.
She shared her gracious and generous hospitality with many and was known for entertaining friends and family in her beautiful home with the greatest of ease.
Marilyn lived every day to the fullest. She was a member of PEO for over 49 years, played bridge with close friends from Ely and Reno and enjoyed traveling throughout the world.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marilyn was born to Arthur and Frances Salvi on Sept. 26, 1937 in McGill, Nev. She graduated from White Pine High School and attended UNR.
She married Theodore Chachas in 1957 and they made their home in Ely. They owned and operated the Cleveland Ranch and the Junction Motor Service Company. “Ted” also died of cancer in 1990.
She married Harry Green in 1994. He predeceased her in 2009. She moved to Reno to care for her mother over 15 years ago.
Marilyn is survived by her children; John (Jodi) Chachas, Elizabeth Masek (Edward Kolsky), Arthur Chachas and Helen Beach; grandchilden; Angelina (Colton) Craig, Marly Chachas, Rebecca (Brian) Barnett, Alexa (Jake) Dreher, Zachary Masek, Theodora (Landon) Melcher, Samantha Beach, Savannah Chachas and two great-grandchildren; Landon Melcher II and Cora Marilyn Craig; and sister Ruth Leniz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 29 at The Grove, 95 Foothill Road, South Creek Shopping Center, Reno.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn requested donations be made to the Northern Nevada Food Bank or Renown Hospice.
