Charles ‘Chuck’ Marsh

Charles “Chuck” M. Marsh, 69, of Silver City, N.M., passed away Sept. 19, 2016 at his residence.

Charles was born in East Ely, Nev. He was a graduate of White Pine High School.

Charles had an honorable discharge on Nov. 16, 1973, from the U.S. Navy. He was recognized with a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Charles was selected by the Bureau of Medicine, Washington, D.C., to accompany the surgical team for the splashdown of the Apollo 11. Marsh was also a part of the personal team for President Nixon and the three astronauts at the Apollo 11 splashdown.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing and hunting shed Elk Antlers. Chuck will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by Toni K. Ehteredge, fiancee/partner, her three daughters, Dawn Ruebush (Arlin), Kimber Etheredge, Josilynne Swanson (Sam), six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two brothers; Don Marsh and Glenn Marsh, plus several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Harriet Marsh, and  one brother, Jack Marsh.

A Graveside Service was held at Fort Bayard National Cemetery on, Sept. 23 with full military honors.marsh
