Jerrold Lee Meyer, age 80 of Ely, NV passed away peacefully at his home on November 1, 2016. He was born September 12, 1936 in Glade, Kansas. He was the son of the late Clifford and Rosa Meyer.
“Jerry” as many people called him, worked for Hewlett Packard in Loveland, Colorado for 30+ years. After that time, he decided to retire in Ely, Nevada. Jerry was an avid train enthusiast who was also passionate about model railroading. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He loved tying his own flies.
Jerry was a proud member of the United Stated Marine Corps. He served from February 2, 1959 to February 1, 1963. He received many medals and honors while serving. “Once a Marine, always a Marine”. His pride of that fact was apparent until his passing.
He is survived by daughter Tracey (Mike) Greenwell of Ely, Grandson Justin Kirchner of Ely, also by sister Cheryl Clark of Seward, Nebraska and brother Ronald Meyer of Denver, Colorado.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Marlene Meyer, Grandson Harrison Brzoza, and sister Sandra Blewitt.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2017. A notice will be posted in the newspaper at that time.
