Steven Edward Smith, 65, of Ely, Nevada passed away on Thursday, November 24th, 2016. Born January 11th, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Vera Metler and Walter Smith Sr. Steven moved to Ely, Nevada in 1991 were he pursued his career at the Ely State Prison as a License Practical Nurse for 25 years.
Steven had been a nurse over 40 years and loved every minute on it; He enjoyed and was passionate about helping people. Steven had an imagination that would change the world. Digging deep into the imagination of different worlds he enjoyed playing role playing games. Steven was a passionate man who enjoyed playing dungeons and dragons with his friends and his grandsons. He loved teaching them the ropes of creation and fantasy in Steven’s eyes. Steven enjoyed smoking a nice cigar while sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. He enjoyed playing dice games, video games and entertaining his grandson. Steven also enjoyed reading and watching movies. He was a free spirit that enjoyed running off with his wife to go for a quick trip just to get out of town and have fun. Steven was kind and had a heart of gold, he emphasizes in finding compassion and good in everyone. Steven was a person you could talk to, he always had kind and wise words in giving advice. “Even death is not feared by one who has lived wisely” Buddha.
Steven is survived by his wife and best friend Dellyn Smith of 26 years, daughters Tammy (Danny) Turner, Angelica (Jimmy) Robinson, son Michael Miller, sisters Trudy, Pat, Teri, Tammie and Dory, brothers Walter and Joey and many loving grandchildren Tina Vann, Angelica Robinson, Ashley Miller, Timmy Tamburelli, Danny, Michael, and Taylor Turner; great grandchildren Jhamae and Jayce Vann, Zaidyn Robinson, and Jaxdyn Turner; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Steven was an extremely loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.
Steven is preceded in death by his mother and father, daughter Sheri and Vikki Miller, mother-in-law Alice Hill, as well as his aunts, uncles, and extended family.
Steven’s wish was to be cremated. There will be no services at this time. In memory of Steven remember to be companionate to others. One last chant brave warrior “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo” which means to enable all people to put their lives in harmony. Steven is living in harmony and is at peace now. We love you and miss you more than anything. Move the stars and shine bright; You will never be forgotten and forever will be placed in our hearts. “Until We Meet Again”.
