Joan Viola Stewart received her heavenly wings and went to Daddy’s arms February 29, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Joan was born to Vernon and Dorothea Pugh on July 10, 1933 in Ely, Nevada.
Joan attended school in White Pine County and graduated from White Pine High School. She met the love of her life, Garold Ray Stewart in Ely and they were married December 23, 1951. They had five children; Paul Stewart, Christine Chole (Smitty) Smith, Michael Ray (Shaunna) Stewart, Carrie Ann Stewart, and Teresa Viola Stewart (Ken) Barney.
Joan enjoyed making the most of life by singing, drawing, writing poetry, sewing, listening to music, pinenut picking, camping, fishing, gardening, canning, doing any activity outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Garold, sons Paul and Micheal, Grandchildren Tina and Justin, sister Caroline Kirkeby, and nephew Russell Pugh.
Joan is survived by her children Christine (Smitty), Carrie Ann, Teresa (Ken), Grandchildren Cameron, McKenna, Adam, Heather, Mathew, Tamara, Melody, Derek, Casey, Chad, Preston, Kyle, Alysha, and Breanna, brother Richard (Diana) Pugh, numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at Mountain Vista Chapel. A viewing and visitation will be at 10:30 AM, services at 11:00 AM and an interment will follow at the Preston City Cemetery in Preston, Nevada. A luncheon will follow the interment.
