In Loving Memory and celebration of life for Annemarie Christine Heckethorn
On Sunday, April 21, 2019, Annemarie Christine Heckethorn passed away in a long-term care facility in Delta, Utah. She was born January 29, 1934 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to Philipp Adolf Friedrich and Ottilie Meckel Ingenbrandt. Annemarie graduated from Business College in Bad Kreuznach at 20 years old when soon after she met the love of her life Gene Dee Heckethorn while he was stationed serving in the U.S. Army in her home town.
After Gene returned home shortly after she traveled to the United States where she arrived in Spring Valley, Nevada on December 14, 1953 and three days later December 17, 1953 married her forever love.
Not knowing anyone and didn’t speak a word of the English language Annemarie adopted well to her new life. She enjoyed being a rancher’s wife working hard in the branding pen, cooking and helping with her sharp mind when it came time to sell the market calves. The family was amazed with how well she understood finances and had a major role in the success of the Taft and McCoy ranches.
Spring Valley is where they raised their two sons Philipp Gene Heckethorn and William Jay Heckethorn. After the ranches sold in the late 70’s they moved to town where she started her career in the retail clothing sales at Nanette’s.
In 1983 she started working for Andy’s Western Wear as store manager where she excelled in the western clothing retail industry. She loved and enjoyed working with the public and was always great at finding that perfect pair of boots or western outfit needed for everyday wear or upcoming special events.
She enjoyed volunteering her time entering crops, gardening and flowers in the open exhibit area at the Annual White Pine County Fair. After retiring she enjoyed traveling to many places with her friends and family.
She is survived by her son Philipp (Gwendy) Heckethorn, step-son Kit Sherman, grandchildren Chance (Haley) Heckethorn, Heidi Hechethorn, Nakia (Chase) Howlett, Melanie Heckethorn and Casey Sherman. Great grandchildren Kyler, Treysn, Masyn and Rylee Heckethorn, McCoy and Kailsey Howlett and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son William Jay Heckehtorn.
