On May 28, 2016, William (Bill) Walter Rosevear was sleeping peacefully in his home in Lund, Nev. with his daughter, Mandy, and his caregivers, Victoria and Mary, by his side when the Lord sent word he would need Bill in the high country.
So Bill left his hard working, tired earthly body behind and went to join the Lord on his outfit. Maybe it’s also branding season there and Bill will get to rope a few calves and see many friends and family.
Bill was born to Walter Jacob Rosevear and Wilma Ferguson in Ely, Nev. on Aug. 19, 1933. He was raised with his two brothers, Thomas (Tom) and Richard (Dick), on the family ranch in White River Valley, Nev. He attended the White River Grade School with his cousins. He attended high school in Lund and Ely. He also became close to Patty and John, Walter’s dear friend Avis’s children.
Patty’s daughter later came to the ranch and Bill taught her to ride. He served his country from 1953 to 1956. Before he left, his grandmother, Emily (Granny) Rosevear ensured he was baptized in the Episcopal Church.
After he left the service, he married Marian and started a family in Gary, Ind., working for US Steel. But his heart was in Nevada so he separated from his wife and returned to the family ranch. He lost touch with his six children for a number of years but was blessed with their love and friendship in later years.
He married Linda in the 1967, they had three children. They lived on ranches and in Fallon, where Bill worked for Harker & Harker Construction, building power lines across the state of Nevada.
They separated and Bill returned to the ranch with his three young children. He married Ellen Lucile Gardner Gubler in Pioche, Nev. on Jan. 30, 1976. Ellen had raised four wonderful children and set to work raising Bill’s young family. Bill and Ellen were married for many wonderful years, enjoying ranch life, raising good cattle, fine horses and a loving family.
Bill’s life circled around horses, hard work and family. Some of his horses included: Pass Easy bought in 1949, the first registered quarter horse in White Pine County; Don, the little tough horse that he mustanged on in the ‘60s; Senator, out of Lamb’s Okie Star stud, carried him many miles in the ‘70s as he wore out two saddles and picked up bucking horses at the local rodeos; Harly helped him finish his work at the Henroid Ranch; Sammy, his palomino stud that he rode and roped on in his later years; and his prized stud Lenas Chex N Smart (fondly nick named Billy by Ellen) who won the Champion Nevada Stallion in 2014 at the Stallion Stakes in Elko.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ellen, his brother Richard, and his sons Richard, Gary, and Kimble.
He is survived by his bother Tom, his sister-in-law Karen, and his children: Renee, Cindy, Jeff, Marcus, Brice, Denton, Anna, Crystal, Mindy, Mandy and Walt.
He loved his grandchildren and is survived by Dana, Damon, Laura, Anna, Ruthie, Jillian, Marcus, Amanda, KC, Conan, Cara, Charity, Carolyn, Damon (yes, there are two of them), Kimberly, Kelly, Teara, Justin, Kyle, Desi, Tony, Charly, Pammy, Kami, Sawyer, Chad, Madi and Sofi. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and great grandchildren.
His services will be at the St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June, 4, 2016. His viewing will be Friday evening. He will be laid next his wife and brother at the family plot in Preston, Nev.
