Judilynn Cutler Hase “Judi” entered eternal life on December 2, 2020. Her spirit is carried on by her husband Scott Hase, her two children, Melissa (Cody) Crader and John (Ginger) Rick, two step-daughters, Carrie Tallman and Amy ( Steven) Howe. Ten grandchildren and one great grandson. Two surviving siblings, Jackie Narduzzo and Mike (Karen) Cutler, and an extended family of friends from every walk of life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and June Cutler and brother in law, Al Narduzzo.
Judi was born on March 17, 1943, and grew up in Watertown, South Dakota. She graduated high school in 1961 with a group of close friends who meant the world to her.
She went to college in Aberdeen, South Dakota earning a teaching degree, and then started teaching in Huron, South Dakota where she met and married her first husband Steve Rick. They moved to Ely, Nevada in 1968 where they both taught school and raised their two kids.
She got a job in 1984 working as manager of the JOIN office in Ely. A job she loved and kept till she retired when she was 65.
She married the love of her life, Scott Hase in 1987. They were married 33 wonderful years full of trips to Hawaii, several road trips singing 50’
s songs, and spending time with family and friends.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Judi during her 77 years, among them:
Invite new friends to Thanksgiving dinner. If they are from another country and you have trouble understanding them, learn to “listen with an accent.” Pet every dog you see and smile at every baby! Always eat dessert! Amaretto on ice IS nice! If you marry someone who is Japanese, become the best Japanese cook around. Spend all your time with your kids it goes by way too fast and live every day like it’s your last.
Judi had a beautiful singing voice and sang and directed the White Pine Sweet Adeline chapter for many years. She also was in charge of Ely’s Arts in the Park and loved meeting all the new vendors. She became the “CEO” of her class reunions and started planning and going every September. She was the best wife, mother, gramma and great gramma we could have ever asked for. She will be missed immensely by her family.
We will not be holding a service for Judi so instead of mourning her death, celebrate her life. Drink an amaretto on ice, or donate to an animal shelter, smile at a baby, or sing a song for her!
