Mace D. Hansen, 87, of McGill, Nev., passed away June 21, 2016.
He was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Wells, Nev. to Charles and Lillian Hansen.
Mace served in the US Army from January 1946 to July 1947, during which he served as a typist at the Pentagon.
He married Leola Crowther June 4, 1949 in Aurora, Utah. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding Anniversary.
Mace and Leola moved to McGill from Richfield, Utah in 1951. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1983 as a Converter Skimmer.
Mace and Leola enjoyed retirement together for 28 years in Roosevelt, Ariz. and traveling all over with their RV and boat. They made many lifelong friends along their travels.
Mace was a financial secretary for United Steel Workers of America with the union for Kennecott, and took great pride in balancing the books. He was a member of the Ely Elks Lodge #1469 and American Legion Post #3.
Mace enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and traveling. He also loved playing his guitar and singing. Many hours were spent singing around the campfires with Grandpa.
Mace is survived by his wife, Leola Hansen of McGill; son Ricky Hansen (Kaylene) of McGill; two daughters Deanna (Duane) Lerch of McGill and Kaylene (Scott) McVicars of McGill; three grandchildren, Charley Hansen of Reno, Chris (Jade) McVicars of Ely and Clarissa McVicars (Mike) of Reno; one great grandchild Mason Hansen; sister Lillian Bulloch of Cedar City, Utah and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren Michael and Brandon; brother C.J. Hansen; several friends and family members.
Mace enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and meeting new friends. He had a clever sense of humor and enjoyed flirting with all the pretty ladies. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Mace is finally at rest. A great husband, dad, grandpa and friend he will be missed by all. Funeral Services were held June 25, 2016 at Mountain Vista Chapel. Burial was in the Ely City Cemetery.
