Jerry Lane Ogden

Jerry Lane Ogden passed away on December 13, 2022 in Ely, NV. Jerry was born on September 28, 1939 to Jack V. Ogden and Josie Conder Ogden in Bingham, Utah where his Father Jack worked in the underground copper mines.


In 1944 his father Jack was drafted into World War II. Jack relocated his family back to the family farm in Austin, Utah while he served his Country. Jerry grew up on the family farm raising sugar beets, alfalfa and dairy cattle. Jerry attended grade school in Monroe, Utah and graduated from South Sevier High School in 1958. Shortly after graduation Jerry was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Infantry as a Mortar Operator in El Paso, Texas during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was Honorably Discharged in the fall of 1962. After being discharged from the Army Jerry met Elia Cordova in Richfield, UT and they married on February 16th 1963. In 1965 Jerry moved his family to McGill, NV to begin working for Kennecott Copper in the converters as a skimmer. Together Jerry and Elia had three children, John, Jeffery, and Tracie who were all raised in McGill. Jerry worked at the smelter until 1983 when the operations were permanently shut down. Jerry spent the remainder of his career working for Bald Mountain Mine he retired in 2003. Jerry enjoyed riding and raising horses as well as deer hunting and restoring classical cars and trucks, he was currently restoring a 1951 Mercury Coupe.

Jerry was preceded in death by both parents, a brother Blake Ogden, and his beloved wife Elia of 58 years. Jerry is survived by his brothers Terry (Cordy) Ogden, Randy (Karma) Ogden, sister-in-law Martha (Rennell) Barney; sons John (Priscilla), Jeffery (Tiffany); daughter Tracie Ogden; nine grandchildren John P. (Sarah) Ogden, Samantha (Manual) Reynoso, Shelby (Travis) Ogden, Brandy (Skylar) Hall, JerriLynn Ogden (Zack), Jenna (Jacob) Williams, Javis Bolden, James (Liz) Coca, Joshua (Kirenza) Coca and twenty three great grandchildren.


There was a Graveside Service at the Monroe Utah Cemetery on December 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. Mountain Time, Friends and Family are welcome to attend.
