Chelsea Nicholes

Chelsea Nicholes, cherished daughter, sister, niece, mother, and aunt, passed away at home on October 31, 2023 alongside her husband Cody Nicholes.

Chelsea was born May 3, 1982 to Lyle and Debbie (Ross) Norcross of Ely, NV. Chelsea attended White Pine High school (2000) where she lettered in volleyball, softball, and basketball. She enjoyed quilting with her mom and other quilters in the community. After graduation, Chelsea attended the University of Nevada Reno (2005) where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management Human Resources. She began her career at the Sands Hotel & Casino in Reno, NV before accepting a position as Human Resources Manager at a small company called Torchmate where she remained for 13 years. Chelsea and her husband Cody, always kept their hometown of Ely, NV close to their hearts and hoped to return one day. Their dreams were realized in June of 2020 when they moved their family home to Ely after Cody accepted a position with the United States Forest Service as a Law Enforcement Officer and Chelsea accepted a position as Human Resource Manger with KGHM International Ltd.

Shortly after graduating UNR, Chelsea was introduced to Cody Nicholes through mutual friends (Jeremy & Codi Soap & Kristin Martinez). They were married in their hometown of Ely, NV on July 24, 2010 at the Freight Barn (next to the Ely Train Depot) with the ceremony preformed by close family friend Betty Bianchi.

Cody & Chelsea welcomed three amazing children into their family, Cason (11) Cole (9) & Caydence (5). They were their children’s biggest fans and loved supporting them on the ballfields through coaching them in baseball, softball, flag football, soccer, and basketball. Chelsea & Cody were devoted sports fans cheering on the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Cowboys.

Chelsea had a heart of gold and was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews Kylie, Jacob, Madison, Bodie, & Ivie. She was became great friends to almost everyone she met and touched many lives. She will be missed more than words can say.

Chelsea is survived by her children, Cason, Cole, and Caydence; her father Lyle Norcross (Bonnie); her brother Cameron (Jennifer) nieces and nephew Kylie, Jacob, and Madison; her brother Casey (Stephanie) and nephew and niece Bodie and Ivie; her brother in law Stacey (Julie) and nephews Jackson, Tyson, Kaden, and Bryant as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother Debra (Ross) Norcross; sister Courtney; grandparents LaRoy (Bud) & Beth Ross; grandparents Johnnie & Geneva (Maddox) Norcross.

Services will held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11am at the White Pine County High School on Bobcat Drive in Ely, NV with a celebration of life to follow at the Bristlecone Convention Center.
