Dec. 20, 1954 – Sept 18,2019

Ron Weltzin, our beloved father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Surprise, Arizona, Wednesday Sept 18th, after a long strong fight against Cancer.  He was 64 years old.

Ron was born Dec 20, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Gerald Bernard Franklin and Dorothy Mary Meuffels.

Early in his childhood, he and his father moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he attended and graduated from Las Vegas High school in 1972.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving 4 years stationed in Germany.

It was soon after returning home from his service time, while making a delivery to the Paris Ranch in Butte Valley, Nevada, that he met and started dating Christy Paris, daughter of Bertrand Paris.

They were married on Dec 10,1977 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ely, Nevada.  They made Ely their permanent home as well as the Ranch in Butte Valley.  They had two sons, Ronald Bertrand (1979) and Cody James (1983).

Ron worked for the Nevada Department of Transportation for twenty years before semi-retiring to return to truck driving for Montana Express and Gary Amoth Trucking.

He was a longtime proud member and president of the Ely Volunteer Fire Department, where a lot of his fondest friends and memories were from.  He also was a ranking member and served as the president for the State of Nevada Employees Association.

He briefly moved to Twin Falls, ID, where he remarried to Connie Yuill-Garcia on 10/7/2006.  They then both moved to Surprise, Arizona where he “retired”.  His love of the road continued, but this term of his life, he drove school bus for the school district for the sports teams and eventually for special needs children.  These children held a special place in his heart. Connie remained married to Ron until his final day. She cared for him endlessly once he could not do so himself.

Ron enjoyed a variety of things in his spare time including hunting with family, fishing on Sophie Lake in Montana, or could be found South of Ely at Sunnyside with his longtime best friend, Doug Robinson.  He was a passionate NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt #3 and Dale Jr, and would never miss a race, especially attending live races at Phoenix and Las Vegas. He loved watching the National Finals Rodeo yearly in Vegas.  He loved to bowl at Sunset Lanes and pick guitar with his band and good friend Tony “two feathers.” He also loved to spend countless hours and days in his shop and helping at the ranch in Butte Valley.

He is preceded in death by his father Gerald (Jerry), mother Dorothy, brothers Mike and Richard, sister Linda, and his uncles Stephen and Jim (Blackjack).

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, Cynthia Warren (Erquiaga) died in Ridgecrest, California, at the age of 61 from complications related to COPD.

This spirited and feisty woman was born June 1, 1958, in Fresno, California, and raised in Winnemucca, Nevada. After high school, Cyndi traipsed around the Western United States before settling in Ely, Nevada.

She spent 20+ years raising her 3 kids, having coffee at the Hotel Nevada, playing Yahtzee, making decorative plates and sponge-painting everything in sight.

Cyndi left Ely for Tonopah, NV, where she lived for a short time before moving to Ridgecrest in 2001. Cyndi was happy to finally be living in a town that had more than 2 stoplights and access to a Kmart.

In 2006, Cyndi was diagnosed with COPD and multiple sclerosis. As with most challenges in her life, she fought hard and believed in the power of family and positive thinking. Cyndi’s lifeline, besides oxygen and grandkids, was crocheting. She showed her love and creativity through crochet. Cyndi had a never-ending enthusiasm and curiosity for life and was always game for an adventure. She loved Pizza Hut and filet mignon; the sweetest Moscato and the strongest bourbon. She genuinely enjoyed learning everyone’s story and did not know a stranger.

Cyndi is survived by her children, Tomi Warren, Jeffrey Warren, and Charley Warren, and three grandchildren, Laci, Charley, and Evan. She will also be missed by her siblings, Alan, Jaci, Linda, Mike, Paula, Sandi, Terry, and Tony.

In the early morning hours of September 30, 2019, Ben Wesley Stacy, was called back home to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, to be greeted by his mamma Icie and father James Otis “OB” Stacy.

Ben was born November 2, 1964, his greatest accomplishment was his family. Survived by wife Deana, daughter, Harleigh and sons Hesston & Wesley (Melanie) grandkids Makenna and Ayden, Sisters Betty, Tina (Randy) Brothers Joe, Jay (Beth) of Heavener, OK.

He loved them more than life itself and will forever be watching over them as they continue their

journey in this mortal life, looking forward to the day when he will be reunited with them.

Ben bravely battled cancer for 14 months with ferocity and courage. He returned to work within a week from his initial surgery, because he was a fighter, and he fought to the end, laughing to his last day and appreciating the love his family surrounded him with.

The dignity, love and compassion he showed while facing this horrible disease is an example we should all aspire to. He knew he was sick but would rather reminisce about old memories, laugh and discuss what plans your future had, than dwell upon the inevitable. He would take the good days with the bad and say, “It’s just part of the process.”

Ben grew up in Heavener, Oklahoma surrounded by the love of his parents, brothers and sisters. His life revolved around making acquaintances and friends. The list of people whose lives have crossed paths with his is incredible, especially once he began his career in the mining industry. He met and worked with people across the globe.

His career included time at Philips Dodge, Rio Tinto with assignments in Utah, Mongolia, Canada, visits to China and other foreign countries. His last role took him to Spring Creek, Nevada with Sandvik Mining.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Deliphene.

An open house / celebration of life to be held at the Stacy home on Saturday October 19, 2019, 1-4 pm.

In memory of Ben, come out and celebrate his life with a Dr. Pepper and Snickers, along with a favorite memory for his family about how this incredible man touched your life.

In Lieu of flowers please send donations to Huntsman Cancer Inst., Horizon Hospice, PO Box 2284 Elko NV 89803, or a charity of your choice.

Paul Andrew Boundy lost his battle to esophageal cancer on Saturday, October 19, 2019; he was 86 years young.  The fifth of eight children, Paul was born on May 6, 1933 in Stanrod, Utah to John Andrew and Mable Rose Boundy.  He and his seven siblings grew up in Cherry Creek, NV where his father owned and operated the Cherry Creek Tungsten Mining Company.

Paul attended White Pine High School and was active in sports.  He would later earn a GED as he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 5, 1952.  Paul attained the rank of Boiler Operator Helper having served on the USS Wyndham Bay CVE 92 stationed out of San Francisco, California.  He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1955.

Upon separation, Paul gained employment with a logging company in Placerville, California where he would meet the love of his life, Betty Neff.  They were married on May 11, 1958 and Paul became a step-father to her son, Charles Nicolls, born September 12, 1950.  Paul and Betty would eventually complete their family with the adoption of their son, Anthony John Boundy born March 11, 1958.

Paul, Betty and the boys would return to Ely in 1969 and purchase his parents family home to raise his family in.  He worked as a roofer for Buddy Jukich until he gained employment with Bub Hayward at H & R Propane which would then become Suburban Propane; retiring in 2002 from a career which would span more than 32 years.

Paul was an incredible man.  He was kind, giving and had a gift for seeing a situation as it was.  When his grandson Brian was little, he enjoyed taking him fishing…and letting him practice learning to cast in the living room at the expense of Betty’s lace tablecloths much to her dismay.  He was a past member of the Ely Volunteer Fire Department as well as the I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows.

Paul shared his love of square dancing with Betty until her knees made it impossible to continue.  He was an avid reader, especially of Louis Lamour novels, which he read and reread repeatedly.  Until recently, you could always find Paul sitting at the kitchen table reading his library books while the weather channel played in the background.

Paul was also a talented woodworker; he made 111 cedar chests which are spread throughout the United States.  He was so proud to give them as gifts to loved ones to commemorate important occasions each with a Crafted by: Paul Boundy tag inside the lid.  While he loved his woodworking, the shop also served as a spot to open the big garage door and sit with friends enjoying a beer, or two, in what was referred to as the “Boundy Bar.”

After raising two sons, Paul happily referred to Kerri (Jody) Pintar as his daughter he gained later in life; while we both would argue who was the luckier of the two, undoubtedly it was with absolute certainty “ME;” he was loved dearly and will surely be missed.  Paul also recognized how blessed he was to have his nephew Jack (Cassandra) Santens provide such wonderful end of life care ensuring he could remain at home during his valiant battle with cancer.  A life well lived…heaven gained an angel today!!

Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; sons Charles (Linda) and Anthony; granddaughter Jennifer Dawn; parents John & Mabel; brothers Jack, Bob and William Boundy.  He is survived by his grandsons Brian, David (Laura), Andy (Jennie) Nicolls and granddaughter Christy Hill, numerous great-grandkids; siblings Wally & Pete Boundy, Diane Gunderson and Katherine Davis, as well as many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Elaine Cazier.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 10:00 A.M. in the Mountain Vista Chapel, Reverend Red Sims officiating with grave-side services immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the White Pine County Library, c/o Lori Romero, 950 Campton Street, Ely, NV 89301.

She attended Homestead Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse.  After working as an R.N. in the Pittsburgh area, she and two fellow colleagues made the decision to travel “out west” and all worked as nurses in Twin Falls, Idaho, Pasco, Washington and Ely, Nevada, where she met her future husband Harry Londos. Annabelle and Harry were married in the Ely Sacred Heart Catholic Church April 4, 1948. They settled in McGill, Nevada where they raised four children and were very active in the community during their 46 years of marriage.  Annabelle often said the times she found most enjoyable involved her children, whether it was supporting them in activities throughout their school years, participating in Saint Michael’s Catholic Church functions, or just going to the creeks for picnics.  In her later years she thoroughly enjoyed all her grandchildren.

After many years of being a stay at home mom, and once her youngest child entered grade school, Annabelle re-entered the workforce.  She worked as the school nurse at White Pine High School, Lund schools and the Headstart Program.  She also obtained her EMT certificate where part of the training included being lowered by rope off a cliff.  She often told the story of how she became so apprehensive that she accidently flipped herself over and landed upside down as she descended!

Shortly after her husband’s death in 1994 Annabelle moved to Sparks, Nevada to be closer to her children.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Ladies Guild, she volunteered at the local grade schools and was active in the Sparks senior group “Friends on the Go.”  She was fortunate to live independently until 2016 when she moved to an assisted living residence.

Dr. Bob (Robert Orin) Pinneo passed away quietly on the morning of November 14, 2019.  He could not win his fourth major battle with cancer and the good Lord decided to take him so he did not have to fight any longer.

Dr. Bob was born in Bozeman, Montana on December 11, 1935 to Victor and Alice (Petersen) Pinneo.  He attended 36 schools in the first six grades as his Dad worked for the Department of the Interior, finding just the right locations to build dams, and whatever else the government needed to build.  They lived in tents, old mining cabins, and boarded up tents as they moved around the country for his Dad’s work.

Dr. Bob (as he was affectionally known by all who loved him) was an amazing Professor at Valley High School (Las Vegas, NV), as well as developing the first computers for UNLV and teaching many students.  He helped students at White Pine High School finish their Chemistry classes (a subject he disliked very much) when the teacher left unexpectedly with nine weeks of school left.  He loved teaching at Great Basin Community College in Ely, NV and then meeting his students whenever he went to the post office, store, doctor, etc.

He is survived by his best friend and wife, Evie of 37 wonderful years.  He has one brother, John Michael (Amy), who was quite a bit younger.  He is also survived by his three children: Jacki (Milton) Linn of Las Vegas, NV and their six children, spouses and children; Vicki Gooss of Las Vegas, NV and two children, spouse and child; and Craig (Karen) Pinneo of Reno, NV and their two children, and Evie’s two daughters: Tonya (Trevor) Knell of Nashville, TN and their four children, and Sheila (Shawn) Bruse of Las Vegas, NV.  In total, he is survived by 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He was one proud Dad and Grandfather.  He has many special cousins as well.

His favorite tease to Evie was:  “That’s Physics, Dear”.  She will certainly miss that tease.

At Dr. Bob’s request, there will be no services.

GENEVA-Lorna F. Plunkett passed away Friday November 22, 2019 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov.29) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral service will follow calling hours at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas P. Mull officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Lorna was born October 31st, 1940  in Fleetwood England to parents Richard and Emily Isabella Leadbetter. Lorna attended grammar and primary school in Fleetwood and eventually graduated from the nursing program at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 1964, as a Registered Nurse.  While at Blackpool Vic, she worked in the operating room and ER before immigrating to the United States in 1967.

Lorna settled in Anaheim California, working for Anaheim Memorial Hospital while earning her certification as a nurse mid-wife.  In 1968, not long after arriving in the U.S., Lorna met and married the love of her life, Danny Plunkett, and soon welcomed the first of four daughters to their growing family.  In 1978 Lorna and Dan moved back to Danny’s hometown of Geneva, New York and Lorna resumed her nursing career at Geneva General Hospital, working in labor and delivery.  Lorna and Dan once again made the trek across the United States, moving to Nevada in 1989.  They briefly lived in Las Vegas before settling in Ely, Nevada, where both worked for Ely State Prison.

The couple eventually retired and briefly relocated to Boulder City, Nevada, but  after Dan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, the couple made their final trek back to New York to be closer to their grandchildren.  Lorna devoted the next few years to tirelessly caring for her husband, who eventually passed in 2015.

Retirement allowed Lorna to enjoy many hobbies that included knitting, reading, and spending hours online researching Plunkett/Leadbetter genealogy.  She was always excited to find a new branch on the family tree or to reconnect with distant relatives.

Although not much of a cook, Lorna was notorious for her sweet tooth and visitors could always count on her offering a sweet treat. While not known for her cooking, Lorna did have a great reputation for her clumsiness, always finding the most inopportune time or place to fall. While far from graceful, she always bounded up quickly with a smile and a laugh (for all).  She also loved animals and through the years adopted numerous furry companions, offering them a spoiled life full of toys and treats.  Baseball was also a passion of Lorna’s and she enjoyed many pre-seasons trips to Arizona to watch the Diamondbacks.

Towards the end of her life, Lorna even begrudgingly watched Yankees games with her grandsons and son-in-law, but only if the Diamondbacks weren’t playing.     Lorna lived a full and satisfying life, and although she adored her three daughters, nothing compared to the happiness that her grandchildren brought her.  There was never a band concert, dance recital, kindergarten graduation, or sporting event “Gma”  didn’t attend, and you were guaranteed to hear her voice cheering from the crowd.  She knew the importance of being there and was determined that all of her grandchildren knew how proud she was of each of their accomplishments.  Up until the last month of her life, you could still find her bundled up and cheering on Geneva Panther soccer or streaming her niece Jillian’s Endicott Women’s Ice Hockey games on her iPad, even while sitting in her hospital room!  And during quieter times you could find her sitting with her grandson Cameron, giggling and watching Youtube videos of cats or PBS shows.  There was never any doubt that you were Gma’s world, and you were fiercely loved.

Lorna is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Danny, a daughter Kelly Lynn, three brothers John, David, and Richard, as well as sister in laws Katie Anania and Elizabeth Crawford.

She is survived by her daughters Chrissy Plunkett of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wendy Wright, of Geneva, Teresa (Josh) Miller, of Phelps, four grandchildren – Morgan, Daniel and Kaitlyn Wright and Cameron Miller.  Sister Betty (Peter) Lovatt of Woodlesford England and brother-in-law Ronald Anania of Geneva.

She is also survived by nieces Lisa (Scott) Gibbs, Lynn Anania, Joanne (Rich) Hagan, Claire (Dave) Hall, Brittany (Stephen) Koehler, Samantha (Mark) Mikkelson and Jillian Gibbs. Nephews include Kevin (Mariah) Crawford, Kenny (Lisa) Crawford, John (Cindy) Worden, Kevin (Julie) Leadbetter, Keith (Kathy) Lovatt, Colin (Jenna) Crawford and Scott Gibbs as well as furry companions Chloe, Maddie and Sam.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Beverly Animal Shelter, Thrive to Survive, or the Geneva Panther Soccer program.

The family would like to thank the Lipson Cancer Center, Thrive to Survive, Lifetime Homecare, and Ontario-Yates hospice for their compassionate care and for always being willing to answer the millions of questions that came to mind. Also, a very special thank you  to Bree and Melanie who provided wonderful in-home care in the last few weeks of Lorna’s life.  You made it possible for her family to enjoy the time they had left with her and to know that she was always being provided the best of care when we couldn’t be there.  For tributes and condolences to the family, please visit; www.mcguiganberofuneralhome.com
