On February 14, 2023 Michael Duane Laity passed away peacefully at the White Pine Care Center in Ely, NV. Michael was born on October 9, 1941 in Lakota, North Dakota to Benhart Tovio and Ruth Florence Cash Laity.
Michael lived most of his young life in Lakota and Grand Forks, North Dakota. In1959 he moved “out west” to McGill, Nevada and met and courted Inez Marquardson.
Michael and Inez married on February 25, 1961 and made McGill their permanent hometown. Together they had four children Tami, Teresa, Scott and David. Michael began working at Longyear Drilling and then Kennecott Copper Corporation as a “Steel Worker”. In 1994 Michael and Inez moved to Eureka, NV for her job, they ended up staying and retiring in Eureka.
Michaels hobbies were dancing, fishing, hunting, trapping, woodworking, welding (metal work) and anything outdoors. He loved the beautiful colors, creations and wonders of nature. Michael was always helping others.
Michael is survived by wife Inez of Eureka, NV; children Tami (Eric) of Spokane, WA, Teresa (David) of Elko, NV, Scott (Launa) of McGill, NV and David (Marcy) of Reno, NV; eight grandchildren Katie, Josh, Sheena, Cody, Tylar, Emily, Nathan and Kallie; six great grandchildren Sienna, Daxton, Brexlyn, Ridge, Brysen and Mehki; two brothers Bill and Joe and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth, stepfather Lawrence; sisters Shirley (Don) and Kathy Hauck and granddaughter Brittany.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Mountain Vista Chapel with graveside services that followed at the Ely City Cemetery.
