Dorothy Alice Bloom, was born on May 3, 1938, in the year of our Lord, in Rome, NY to Jacquline Rose Simiele and Edward Bliss. She went to sleep in Jesus on March 27th, 2023 while surrounded by family members.
Dorothy, known as Dottie, grandma, ggma, gggma and yes Dear by those who knew and loved her. She was raised in upstate NY and graduated from Camden High School in 1957. She was wed to Raymond Holmes, Sr, shortly after and had several children. She was preceded in the Rest of Jesus by 2 children, Rose Jean Holmes (Rosie), when she was 3 months old. And, Raymond Holmes, Jr. In 1988. Dorothy believes that at the Resurrection of the dead when Jesus returns, she will be blessed to be able to raise her infant daughter and be reunited with her friends and family. She had peace and hope because of this promise. Although raised with a mix of Baptist and Catholic family religions, she became a Seventh Day Adventist in 2000.

Dorothy moved west in the 1970s, first to Oregon and then to Lewiston, ID in 1980 where she has many friends and relatives and married the love of her life on June 23rd 1990, most know her husband, Harry Bloom, as Pops.
Dottie moved to Nevada in 2001 to work on a farm with Pops in Nyala. While she was in her 70’s she said if we got another farm, she was swathing, not her kids because that’s her job. While on the farm, her grand daughter Nicole would come to visit to “help.” After they moved off the farm, they stayed in Railroad Valley until covid struck her. Although the doctor was sure she would pass in October of 2021, she fought and prevailed although with new complications related to the covid pnuemonia. She was forced to move from Currant due to health concerns and lived with her daughter Linda in McGill for the remaineder of her life. Linda did everything possible to make mom’s last days the best that she could have and her husband also sacrificed for her although he would not call it that, he would call it loving her.
In Nevada Dottie was very active in her community. She was a former board member of the Railroad Valley Advisory Board and hosted many holiday functions for community members at the Currant Community Center. Until covid , she lived on the Manzoni ranch in Currant where she stayed active taking care of her animals and home.
