It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Dallas Havey Larsen on August 10, 2017 at the age of 79.

Dallas was born on April 3, 1938. He was the third of four children born to Harvey (Bob) Christian Larsen and Elizabeth (Beth) O’Donnell Larsen.

Dallas was born and raised in Ely, Nevada. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served his country. He was sure to thank his fellow Comrades in or out of uniform. Dallas was a “true gentleman”.

In 1962 Dallas went to work for the Western Pacific Railroad as a Signalman. Later he worked in signal maintenance. Dallas went to night school and obtained his GED and continued in night school and obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon receiving his degree, the signal engineer promoted Dallas to supervisor. He was later assigned to oversee all the supervisors under the Signal Engineer. Later the Union Pacific Railroad bought the Western Pacific Railroad and Dallas continued to work for them for many years. Later he resigned and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he went to work for his old friend, Jim Meyers, as an Engineering Circuit Designer.

Many of his friends joined him in Florida in the same craft.Golfing and spending time with  his golf buddies was his favorite pastime. We wonder with all the laughing and joking that took place, if they played much golf.

Dallas was a caring husband, father and last, but no least, a super hero (G-Pop) to his great-grandson, Casey.

Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Bob, his mother, Beth, his sister Fancine and his best friend and wife, Jackie.

Dallas is survived by his sister, Betty “Gay” Lage (Bill), brother-in-law, Billy Littledyke, and his brother, Jesse Larsen (Earlene).

He is also survived by  his children, Pam, John and Lynette; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Christopher, Morgan, Jessica and Cierra and his great-grandchildren, Cecelia, Lilli and Casey.

A Celebration of life was held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville, Florida on August 15, 2017.

Her final weeks were filled with her sentiments of love and caring for her family and those that were caring for her.  She was 91 years old and the last of her immediate family’s generation.

She was born in Alamo, Nevada, December 14, 1925, the fifth of eight children, to Joseph Worth Steele and Margery Stewart Steele.

She had fond memories of her childhood, riding horses and working around the farm. Her family was always close and so her children grew up with a wonderful sense of family.

MaryBelle attended elementary and high school in Alamo which she graduated from.

At the age of 16 while visiting her oldest sister Josephine in Ely she met the love of her life and future husband Duch Marich, who soon left to serve his country in the war.

Richard Lynn Carney, age 73, passed away on October 15, 2017 after a long battle with COPD.  Richard was born on July 14, 1944 in Southgate, Callifornia to Loiana and Wesley Carney.

Richard was a true visionary and entrepreneur. In 1974, Richard opened  his first automotive repair location in Ely, Nevada. His business would soon begin to outgrow its small location; the former old Carl Ooly building, where Texaco stands today. Richard purchased land on Fay Ave in 1986 where he built a sprawling 6000 square foot shop. He expanded his business to include collision repair and refinishing and this would become the permanent location of Carney Bros Automotive until its closure in 2008. During his time as a business owner, Richard mentored and employed several people in the community. He offered on-the-job training for those who needed work but didn’t have experience. His  love for cars didn’t stop with his business. Richard enjoyed drag racing in his free time. He built his first car in the late 1960’s and would race with his brother, Kenneth and several friends.  His love for racing was passed on to his children and grandchildren. He spent time building Junior drag cars with his son Dennis.

Children would gather with excitement for the roaring engines and smoking tires. Richard wanted to share his passion with others. Kids would come inside, sit in the cars and he would teach them all about the drag cars.  This growing attention would lead Richard to open a drag racing school at the Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1992. Children ages 8-17 would travel from all over the country to learn the basics and receive their Junior Drag Racing license. Richard would also go onto build a handicap drag car for children with disabilities. This was a true testament of his passion to help and include everyone. Richard received a vast amount of notoriety in the sport and would become a friendly and familiar face to racers all over the country.

Richard opened a second business in 1996, Xtreme Accessories, originally an automotive accessories retailer and would eventually become a cellular store until its closure in 2013. Richard also served as a White Pine County Commissioner from 2008-1012. Richard then retired to Las Vegas where he would spend his time enjoying coffee, westerns and taking care of his father-in-law, Norman Linnell, until his death in 2014.

He is best known for his compassion and love for others. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loiana F. Trowbrdidge Carney and Wesley M. Carney.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Carney, sisters; Carol Harison Carney, Maxine Rupe, Marilyn Ivan, children; Dennis Carney (Kim Ferguson), Diane Carney, Richard (K.D.)
